Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

A Vox Pops is a feedback method where you ask the audience a range of questions related to your topic. The questions could include what the audience would prefer to see in the production to what they would prefer not to see within the performance.

We chose 5 people to be in our VoxPops, these 5 were chosen at ransom to make sure that we didn’t get a biased final production. We asked questions which would mean that as a group we would be to ensure our final edit of our music video was to our chosen audience’s needs. We then analysed the VoxPops findings which enabled us to specify what the expectations were for our video and could adhere to them.

“We asked our audience these questions as they are so influential of how we produce and distribute our music video. As you can see Youtube is where every single one of our candidates watched their music videos so thats a no brainer that we will be placing our music video upon Youtube for our audience to watch. The genre was a mixed opinion however two people stated they enjoy indie as their favourite genre and we actually chose our song before this and it happens to be indie so this is perfect. We see that in music videos people like to see bright colours, flashing lights and a good story so we will sure be attempting to involve these in our video. From the five people we asked, two preffered Disjucture, and two preffered Narrative so im sure we will choose one of these two when deciding the music video

From the first question we could see that the favourite genre was the Indie genre which worked on our behalf as we had already chosen the artist and song, this being indie.
Then we asked what the respondents favourite music video to date was. From this we could go away and watch the music videos and distinguish what paradigms they include and how they worked within the video for the genre. this linked to Question 5 as we asked what they like to see I a muic video. Most respondents answered with bright colours and an interesting narrative therefore we knew we had to include these in our final piece. We also asked the respondents what type of narrative they preferred as this would give us an idea what was popular and could work best for us. The favoured narrative included. We also used the Vox Pops in our preliminary and AS, therefore we decided that it was a reliable way to research and plan

We also conducted a focus groups at both AS and A2 to help us find the best result for our final product. A focus groups is where we select a few people to listen to our chosen song whilst they have the lyrics in front of them – after they then have to fill out a small questionnaire. From this we received positive feedback saying that the song was happy and was as if the song was to be made into a disjunctive music video which influenced us to create a disjuncture narrative.
